The Way Back Home

By Oliver Jeffers

A story about a boy who meets an unlikely friend in a scary place.

The artwork is just adorable, and the story is very much from a child’s point of view. I don’t want to give too much away, but I really like this story a lot because it follows a boy on an adventure after he finds a plane in the closet but in a way that a child would be playing make-believe.  For example, he jumps to the sea from the moon and climbs back up again using a rope or gets distracted watching TV before he remembers he’s on an adventure. I just really like the trueness to child’s play.
