By Pat Hutchins

A folk-art style book that uses prepositions to talk about a hen’s walk through the farm yard.

I like this book because although the sentences are very simple and straightforward, it leaves so much room to have a dialogue with your child as you read. The pictures are done in a folk-art style with a limited colour pallet, making everything very clear yet keeping your attention focused on the pages. There’s a fox that is chasing Rosie through the yard, but she seems oblivious, and the fox is continuously foiled in its attempts to catch her. The kids love laughing at the fox’s misadventures. There are also a ton of reading resources online to play around with to supplement the book if you’re looking for more depth.
